Band Member Profiles
Michael Patrick Dimmick
Mike's Pic

SWM, blue eyes, brown hair, in good shape (rectangular is a shape), at least 5'7" (height changes with mood and time of day...he's taller lying down), likes cheap movies, piano bars (usually lying under them), long walks through the junkyard, simulated conversation, watching cartoons and lying on the couch. ISO single female, any race (except Daytona 500), who also likes lying on the couch, coal miner's daughters and healthy farm girls (preferably human) included.

Lead and Backup Vocals, Drums and Percussion. Also known as "Buzz" or "Buzzy," but definitely don't call him "Fuzzy" (remember his axe). Playing drums professionally since 1965, Mike has been a lead singer since 1971, and has developed an exceptionally expressive style and quality to his voice. Over the years has played in many different types of bands. From 1968-72 he played in and shared the booking and management of the band Beautiful Blue Mist, a contemporary rock band, with his brother Rocky, who also was an original and founding member of the dc motors in 1979. Other bands included The Gary Miller Band which was a country band, Star Truck which was a bluegrass band, and Saucer, a rock and country band. Mike's varied experience with different styles of music contributes to the wide range of styles the dc motors play. He books and manages the band, writes many of the songs, and is the band photographer. He has a knack for making up impromptu lyrics parodying popular songs. He has also composed original songs live on stage that have become part of the band's original material. This can happen at any time, so pay attention. He's also been know to leave the stage entirely and do drum solos on chairs, tables, ceilings, heating ducts, pipes, and sometimes peoples heads and posteriors. He is the front-man for the band, and his rather inventive sense of humor adds a certain je ne sais quois to the band's live performances. For some unknown reason, audiences seem to accept and like this quality. (The University of Maryland's Department of Abnormal Psychology is currently doing a study on this unusual phenomenon.)

We're gonna stop right here until we can think of something more to say about him.

Thomas Alan Ross
Tom's Pic

SWM, brown eyes, brown hair, in good shape (triangular is a shape), over 6' (he's taller in the morning, but begins to slump over as the day wears on...he's wider lying down), likes silent movies, playing at piano bars (and kicking people lying under them), long walks through toy stores, ignoring conversations, calling radio talk shows and making rude sounds, and lying to the couch. ISO a pet dog who is willing to reside under the couch, and can feed and walk itself. Must also be willing to shut up when the mailman comes. Any breed (except poodles, Chihuahuas and dependent types).

Guitar, Lead and Backup Vocals, piano, bass, harmonica. Tom wears dark glasses on stage for some as yet unknown reason (possibly because he is in the federal witness protection program). Started played guitar at age 16, after being forced to play the piano in his early teen years. He also has played in many different types of bands, and has played professionally since he was 21. He has never held any other job other than being a guitarist. (Except, much to Tom's surprise, when he was 18 and his father got him a job at the car wash. He spent a week hand drying bumpers with a rag. At the end of the first week he moved out of his parent's home and left the state.)

Originally from Baltimore, MD, after quitting the car wash in 1976 he moved to the state of Vermont (we believe this may be near New York state) and played professionally in various bands that traveled about Vermont and nearby states (possibly including New York state). He had many fun and sometimes strange experiences, including the band that threatened to fire him unless he started drinking (alcohol), which he got around by pretending to drink (he also claims he never inhaled).

After this experience, in 1980, he moved to the Washington, DC area and played in various bands around town until joining the dc motors in 1985. Tom is a very versatile guitarist, an excellent lead singer, and an exceptional harmony singer. He can pick up odd harmonies in a matter of minutes, and arranges many of the bands harmonies. He also has perfect pitch, and unlike Mike, he actually knows what key he's in. He's known by many names, such as Buzzy, Fuzzy, Dr. Ross (the famous Austrian psychiatrist), Dude, Hey Dude, Yo! Dude!, What's Your Problem, Why Don't You Ever Say Please, You're So Cute, You're Better Looking Than Those Other Guys, Watch Your Step, and The Incredible Fur.

We think this is as much information you should have at this time, so we'll stop here, although there will be more to come.

Arthur Lee Fox

MWM, green eyes between folded up eyelids, multicolored hair, in unusual shape (unusual is a shape), might be 6'2" (or maybe 5'8"--height changes while driving...he's better looking lying down), likes bowling, reading new age bowling books, chili dogs at the bowling alley (with bowling-pin- shaped fries) and the smell of freshly used bowling shoes. Also enjoys lying on the couch watching bowl-a-rama on TV. ISO brown haired, green-eyed lady, prefer someone 5'3", who has been married at least 10 years and has at least 3 children, prefers their names to be Michelle, Chelsea, and Kimberly, in that order only. Would prefer her (and the children's) last name be Fox, so he won't have to change his name. Hopefully bowls better than he does.

Bass Guitar, Lead and Backup Vocals. Playing professionally for 28 years, Art also has a varied background. A rather tall fellow from Baltimore (people from Baltimore are known as Baltimoreans or Baltimorons, depending on whether they want a baseball team in Washington; not sure what category Art fits in to), he started playing bass professionally in 1970. Originally a rhythm guitarist, he went to a scheduled jam session on Groundhog Day, 1970. The bass player at the session was so horrendous that Art picked up the bass, and has been playing ever since. He played with the band First Attraction and went on the road for a couple of years. First Attraction is still together (luckily for us without Art) to this day. He also played with Friends From The Start, which had an elaborate stage show (this is where he learned to wear a dress--still a problem to this day). He also played in various bands such as Joy Ride, Julie Burton Band and the JB Chance band, after which his sentence was reduced to being in the dc motors for the duration.

Art is a tasteful and excellent bass player, a fine lead vocalist as well as harmony singer. Since joining the dc motors he has become the band's technician, repair man, spiritual leader and monitor of Tom's behavior. Often arrives on time to the gigs and has to wait up to a half-hour for the other two, who ride together, to show up. He's been rather patient with this rather juvenile behavior. He is also the artist behind the band's posters. It is rumored that he actually is not as tall as he appears (he's shorter lying down), and may be standing on 6" stilts. This may explain his strange way of walking. Different people hearing this rumor have often been tempted to lift up his pants-leg and check. No one has lived through this attempt yet. We believe Art may misunderstand the reason for these examinations (especially when the examiner is male). No one yet has actually had the courage to ask him to his face if the rumor is true.

His long-cherished dream is to becoming a big city pro pin boy (preferably in New York [which we believe is near Vermont]). It's good to avoid the subject of his bowling average. He has been known to wear shoes with numbers on the back at band performances, and also likes to make strange sounds by scraping these shoes on the floor during certain songs, which confuses Tom immensely, which Art rather enjoys.
